UnoLock Refund/Cancellation Policy
1.1 Introduction
Techsologic Incorporated (Corporation Number 734340-0, headquartered at 150 Elgin Street, 8th Floor, Ottawa, ON K2P 1L4, Canada), provider of the UnoLock platform, including all services, features, applications, and websites (collectively, the "Services"), establishes this Refund/Cancellation Policy to govern refunds and cancellations for users ("you," "your," "user"), including LegacyLink nominees, as defined in Section 3 (Services Overview) of the UnoLock Terms of Service ("Terms"). This policy, incorporated into the Terms, available at https://www.unolock.com/tos.html, ensures transparency and fairness in handling financial transactions, aligning with Canadian financial regulations, GDPR, and other applicable laws, as per Section 17 (Compliance with Privacy Regulations) of the Terms.
1.2 Overview
Due to the digital nature of the Services and immediate access granted upon purchase, all sales for UnoLock vaults and subscriptions are generally final, as per Section 3.5 (Payment and Billing) of the Terms. Techsologic Incorporated ("Techsologic," "we," "us," or "our") may, at its sole discretion, offer refunds or cancellations on a case-by-case basis, subject to the processes outlined below. This policy balances user financial interests with operational integrity, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
1.3 Refund Request Process
To request a refund, you must follow these steps:
- Contact Support: Submit a refund request via support@unolock.com or the support portal at https://www.unolock.com/support.html within 30 days of the transaction.
- Provide Payment Details: Include the Stripe transaction reference for credit card payments or the Bitcoin wallet ID and transaction hash for cryptocurrency payments to verify the transaction.
- Proof of Payment: For Bitcoin payments, provide proof of payment (e.g., a micro-transaction from the same wallet or blockchain verification) acceptable to Techsologic.
Techsologic will review requests on a case-by-case basis, considering transaction details, service usage, and compliance with this policy. Refunds are not guaranteed, and Techsologic's decision is final, subject to applicable law.
1.4 Refunds for Service Downgrades
If you downgrade from a higher tier (e.g., HighRisk, Sovereign, Inheritance) to a lower tier or the Free tier, as per Section 3.5 (Payment and Billing) of the Terms:
- The difference in cost will be issued as vault time credits, applicable to future use of the Services (e.g., subscription extensions or storage expansion).
- No monetary refunds will be provided for downgrades, due to the immediate access granted and zero-knowledge architecture, as per Section 9 (Privacy and Anonymity) of the Terms.
- Downgrades may require creating a new vault to maintain zero-knowledge guarantees, and you are responsible for managing data within the new tier's limits, as per Section 5.3 (Data Management) of the Terms.
1.5 Processing Refunds
Approved refunds will be processed as follows:
- Stripe Payments: Refunded to the original credit card or payment method via Stripe, typically within 5–10 business days, subject to Stripe's processing times.
- Bitcoin Payments: Returned to the provided Bitcoin wallet ID, less any blockchain transaction fees, within 10 business days, subject to cryptocurrency network confirmation times.
Techsologic is not liable for delays or losses due to third-party processor policies or blockchain network issues, as per Section 8 (Third-Party Systems) and Section 10 (Limitations of Liability) of the Terms.
1.6 Cancellations and Vault Expiry
- Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time by deleting your vault or ceasing use, as per Section 13.1 (User-Initiated Termination) of the Terms. No refunds are issued for unused portions of subscriptions unless approved under Section 1.3.
- Unpaid Subscriptions and Vault Expiry: Free tier vaults inactive for two years are deleted without recourse; paid tier vaults with payment failures are suspended and retained for six months before deletion, as per Section 3.6 (Unpaid Subscriptions and Vault Expiry) of the Terms. You are responsible for maintaining valid payment methods, as per Section 5.5 (Compliance with Laws) of the Terms.
1.7 Policy Modifications
Techsologic may revise this policy, as per Section 14 (Modifications to Terms) of the Terms. Material changes will be notified via https://www.unolock.com/support.html with 30 days' notice, where feasible. Continued use constitutes acceptance, as per Section 14.5 of the Terms.
